Well, i have to say, this IS cool. Kinect Fun Labs demoïng avatar creation by scanning your real body features, and generating a meep (or what does Microsoft call em?). Interesting to see the high granularity of the tracking devices as they introduce “Finger Tracking”, allowing developers to build games (and apps..) that you can control by finger movements.

Connect with the fans, give them reasons to buy

A 15 minute presentation and analysis of how Trent Reznor, the Nine Inch Nails bands frontman uses all tools available to him in the current internet climate to connect with his fans, and give them reasons to buy. Serious good, so watch it.

I had a good few hours playing round in the Ridemakerz beta earlier this year and was pleased to see they had found a good example of going from custom virtual goods to custom physical goods.  Bottom line to this : Go into the online environment, play, and create the most amazing custom car you can think of, and then get it delivered to your doorstep.

Virtual reality cocoon promises full sensory experience

London (England) – At a major science event in London today called Pioneer 09, a new device under development called a Virtual Cocoon has been showcased. The kitchen-sized device encases the user in a sensory input room which virtual reality headsets alone cannot achieve. The potential level of virtual reality the device will deliver has caused the research team to coin a new phrase: Real Virtuality.

We still interact with our data mostly through the means of the keyboard and mouse. touchscreens and data visualisation through 3D are helping us to manipulate our data in a more ‘natural’ way. Here a short mute movie on applications on wearable computers, allowing the user to turn any surface into a manipuable interface.
